Darrelle London: CLIENT DESCRIPTION: Toronto-based piano/pop singer songwriter. Releasing her sophomore album, "Eat A Peach," in the US in fall of 2012. www.darrellelondon.com BRIEF: Dynamic and powerful while innately personal, 'Eat A Peach,' asserts Darrelle London as a charismatic creator of distinctly ingenious tunes. Produced by Bill Bell (Justin Nozuka, Jason Mraz, Danko Jones), this album fuses Darrelle's whimsical, humorous style of writing with twisting melody lines and pensive balladlike qualities. To that extent, 'Eat A Peach' avoids the more obvious themes of relationship woes and personal strife. Song topics range from watching a friend’s relationship crumble through an awkward first date to the simple dreaminess of “RV Song.” And yes, it is about her desire to own a motor home. Additionally, Darrelle fulfilled a lifelong by collaborating with Canadian legend Chantal Kreviazuk on “Ceila,” (featuring Kreviazuk as producer and backup singer) “Too Good” and “Peach.” 'Eat A Peach' has earned countless raves and coverage from Canadian press so far including a fashion spread in ELLE Canada, segments on Entertainment Tonight and CTV all the major dailies and weeklies. The Toronto Star complimented her by saying she "reminds one of Kate Nash channelling Jill Sobule with a dash of Ben Folds." This isn't the first time Darrelle has encountered success. Two years ago, she took a bold risk and sent music to Perez Hilton who instantly became a fan and signed her to his now-defunct record label. From that, she gained thousands of fans including Sarah McClachlan who hand-picked her to perform at last year's Lilith Fair.
As Darrelle readies this US release, I hope you will consider coming to check out her show and/or a segment timed to album release. Darrelle's unique - she's quirky, raw and real. In the meantime, I suggest checking out her EPK so you can see for yourself.
